Paternity test exposes rape accused
Coimbatore: Trial will begin in the rape of a minor girl, after a DNA test revealed that the rape accused is the father of the baby delivered by the survivor. The 32-year-old accused had been claiming that he never raped the girl even after the girl delivered a boy.
Blood samples of the baby, rape survivor and the rapist were sent to the forensic science laboratory at Chennai for DNA test which confirmed that the rapist was the biological father.
The trial of the case will begin on June 21.
The rape survivor lodged a complaint to the all-women police, Thudiyalur, on June 17, 2015 and she said her neighbour K Jayaprakash, 32, of Gandhi Street at Vattamalaipalayam near Thudiylur had raped her when she was 16. He raped her repeatedly for two years and the victim was four months pregnant in June 2015.
Jayaprakash was working as a supervisor in a private company in Chinnavedampatti. The minor girl approached him to marry her but he denied having any physical relationship with her and getting her pregnant. So, the girl approached the police who registered a case against Jayaprakash under Sections 3 (a), 4, 5 (ii), 5(1) and 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) act 2012 and Section 417 (punishment for cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.
Preliminary investigations revealed that eight years ago, Jayaprakash married Nisha, 26. The couple has a six-year-old daughter. Five years ago, the couple separated and subsequently he married Vimala, 25, and the couple has a three year-old son.
Three years ago, he allegedly approached the 16-year-old girl and told her that he was in love with her. He also promised her that he would marry her soon after getting a divorce from his second wife Vimala. Then he had physical relationship with her for two years.

The minor girl joined a private college where she was studying BCom. When she was at 18, the girl became pregnant and she had to stop going to college. Five months ago, the girl delivered a baby boy.
"We had collected blood samples from the baby boy, the rape survivor and Jayapraskh and sent to the laboratory for DNA test. We received the report a few weeks ago and it confirmed that Jayaprakash is the biological father of the baby boy," said A Amudha, inspector of police, all women police station, Thudiyalur.
The report was also submitted to the district mahila court and the trial will begin on June 21. Three prosecution witnesses will be examined on the same day.
