Calls upon leaders to visit all houses and campaign against Chandrababu Naidu

The ‘Gadapa Gadapaki YSR’ programme will be the secret weapon against the Telugu Desam Party which is unethically attracting the YSR Congress MLAs and leaders and completely undermining the political system, said YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

Delivering the valedictory speech at the party’s first extended executive committee meeting held at ‘A’ Convention Centre here on Tuesday, he told his party leaders that the door-to-door programme was designed on the basis of the simple secret of political success.

All that the party leaders had to do as part of the programme was go to every household in the village with a questionnaire on the functioning of the Chandrababu Naidu Government, ask for the major issues the people of the house were facing and tell them about the deception of the Telugu Desam Government, Mr. Jagan said.

“Spend some quality time with the people in each house. Talk to them about the difficulties they are facing. That is enough to make you into a leader. It is not necessary to belong to a family that is in politics or have a grandfather who is an MLA or MP. If Mr. Chandrababu Naidu scores zero in the questionnaire the people will dump him in the Bay of Bengal, but that is a different matter,” he said.

He highlighted the example of senior party MLA Ramachandra Reddy, who never lost an election till now as he covered all households in his constituency every year.

He asked them to cover one gram panchayat a day and the entire Assembly constituency in five months. This would give the party’s constituency coordinators a good idea of people living in the villages and even help them constitute booth committees, he said.

“When the people are against a leader all the money and power will not help him,” Mr. Jagan said.

Comparing Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to a villain in a film, Mr. Jagan said that in the end the hero emerges victorious. “The same is going to happen in real life also.”

He said the YSRCP got 1.30 crore votes and the TDP only got an additional 5 lakh votes, a comparatively narrow margin.
