HD Revanna: Ready to swear anywhere I am clean

Revanna declined to take responsibility for the party or his brother Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy saying he was not a JD(S) office bearer.

Bengaluru: A day after JD(S) rebel MLAs challenged him to take a vow before the gods that he had not taken money during the Rajya Sabha polls, former minister Mr H.D. Revanna declared that he was ready to swear anywhere that he was ‘clean.’

However, he declined to take responsibility for the party or his brother Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy saying he was not a JD(S) office bearer. Mr Revanna also seemed to have softend his stance vis-a-vis the rebels, who include Zameer Ahamed Khan and N. Cheluvarayaswamy remarking, ‘God bless them, I wish them all the best.'' He claimed that he had not called anyone ‘Shani' (inauspicious) and did not mean to hurt anyone.

When asked why the JD(S) had been sending Independents like MAM Ramaswamy, Kupendra Reddy, Vijay Mallya and Rajiv Chandrashekhar to the Rajya Sabha, Mr Revanna shot back: “Ask Rajiv Chandrashekhar. I accompanied him to Vidhana Soudha and got his nomination filed. Have I taken a single paisa? I am not alleging that they (rebel MLAs) took money. I am ready to swear anywhere that I am clean.”

“Will Congress candidate Mr K.C. Ramamurthy take a vow that he did not spend a single paisa and legislators voted for him just because he was an honest IPS officer?'' Mr Revanna asked, adding, “Mr Digvijay Singh (Congress general secretary) has said that the rebel MLAs had helped them when Congress was in trouble. We will be happy if they are inducted into the Cabinet too.'

When asked about his relationship with CM Siddaramaiah, Mr Revanna said the CM liked him a lot. “I go to him for constituency related work and issues related to land denotification,” he said.
