Yankees RHP Ivan Nova (5-3, 4.39 ERA) at Rockies RHP Chad Bettis (4-5. 5.85), 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, ROOT

The numbers paint an ugly pitcher of Bettis, who was so stellar to begin the season. In his last four starts, the right-hander is 0-3 with an 11.57 ERA. “I think it’s mostly been a matter of pitch location and leaving the ball up over the plate,” manager Walt Weiss said. Bettis has given up 12 homers in 13 starts, by far the most on the team. With Colorado’s rotation currently in a state of flux, Bettis could be pitching to keep his starting spot. Nova, who began the season in the bullpen, has given the Yankees what they needed — a decent pitcher who can get them into the seventh inning. He has delivered at least six innings in each of his last five starts. He earned his fifth win of the season in New York’s 6-3 win over the Angels last Thursday at Yankee Stadium, giving up three earned runs on six hits over 6⅓ innings.
