On 117th birth anniversary of Brig Rajinder Singh MVC (posthumous), a function was organised by the district administration at his native village Bagoona.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal was the chief guest, while Major General Sanjeev Narain was the guest of honour.
District Development Commissioner, Samba, Sheetal Nanda, Director, Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu, Anjali Sharma, SSP, Samba, Joginder Singh, president, Dogra Sadar Sabha, Gulchain Singh Charak, Major General (retd) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (president, J&K Ex-Serviceman League), Director, Sainik Welfare, Brig (retd) Harcharan Singh, additional secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, sarpanch, Rajinderpura, Brijpal Singh and locals in a large number were present on the occasion. Paying homage to Brig Rajinder Singh, Kotwal recalled his bravery and sacrifice. He exhorted upon the youth to remember the martyrs and imbibe the qualities of bravery and valour.
He also appreciated the efforts of the district administration and residents of Bagoona for celebrating the birth anniversary of Brig Rajinder Singh, also called “Saviour of Kashmir”.
The DC, Samba, informed that the administration would facilitate Brig Rajinder Singh Jayanti celebrations in a big way every year. Major General Sanjeev Narain, Anjali Sharma, Gulchain Singh Charak , Major General (retd) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, Brig (retd) Harcharan Singh also spoke on the occasion and paid tributes to Brig Rajinder Singh.
