Amar’e Stoudemire’s brother charged in horrifying assault

The younger brother of former Knicks star Amar’e Stoudemire was arrested Monday night in Kansas after allegedly kidnapping the mother of his child, TMZ reported.

According to officials, Jerrel Stoudemire rammed his vehicle into the woman’s car, yanked her out of the vehicle and beat her. Then he dragged her into her basement and assaulted her for hours. The woman’s daughter found her in the basement naked and unconscious.

Stoudemire was arrested in Hodgeman County, Kansas, and charged with aggravated battery, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and criminal deprivation of property.

The 28-year-old Stoudemire is due in court Tuesday afternoon, according to the gossip site.

The elder Stoudemire was a Knicks mainstay after signing a five-year, $99.7 million contract, though he battled injuries throughout his stay. He was bought out of the final season of his deal in February 2015, and joined the Dallas Mavericks. Stoudemire, 33, spent this past season with the Miami Heat.

Stoudemire took a leave of absence from the Knicks in early 2012 when another brother, Hazell, died in a car accident in their home state of Florida at the age of 35.
