Agatha Screening

In advance of The Ageless Agatha Christie: Adaptations and Afterlives, at the University of Exeter on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 June, we are pleased to announce that a special free film screening of the 1979 film, Agatha, will be shown at 5pm on Sunday 19 June in Lecture Theatre One, Queen's Building.

Event details

On 4th December 1926 Agatha Christie (Vanessa Redgrave) disappears for 11 days after her husband (Timothy Dalton) asks her for a divorce to marry his lover. Taking refuge in a spa under a false personality and dragged down by a deep depression, Agatha plans suicide. The police and some of her followers search relentlessly for the writer, but it will be an American journalist, Wally Stanton, (Dustin Hoffman) who discovers her and tries to prevent her fatal impulses. The film is based on Agatha Christie's disappearance in 1926. However, the screenwriters fabricated facts and a complicated legal battle ensued.

To introduce the film will be our special guest, Agatha producer, Gavrik Losey. Mr Losey will also be taking a Q&A session after the film.  We’d like a rough idea of numbers so if you plan to attend please email agathachristieconference@gmail.com

However, anyone is welcome to attend.
