DKI Tigers display talent with fine win at JCA T20

disciplined and energetic performance by DKI Tigers saw them defeat favorites Menara Devils by a whopping margin of 70 runs in a Group B game at the JCA T20 cricket tournament at Cibubur on Saturday.

In a show of aggressive and intelligent batting, accurate bowling and sharp fielding, the Tigers impressively went about their task of putting up an above-par score of 145/4 in 20 overs and then defending it successfully to move to the second spot in the group, behind Jaguar CC.

Riding on a century partnership for the second wicket, Eki Antaria (67 runs) and Aditya Gustama (51 runs) between the two of them helped the Tigers finish well to set up a target of 146 runs for the Devels.

They then returned to the field with energy and discipline to create the Devils all sorts of trouble and have them all-out for a mere 75 runs in the 20th over.

While Taimur Khan scored 20 runs for the Devils, Eki Antaria was the wrecker-in-chief with 5/20.

Meanwhile in a Group A game on Saturday at Cibubur, Ceylon Cavaliers beat Senayan CC by 26 runs in a closely fought game. Winning the toss and batting first, Ceylon got off to a good start with Avakash Lohia (21) and Mufasil (28).

Then, as Gaurav Kapoor and Baba Sivasankaran plundered 26 runs off one over, Ceylon was sitting pretty at 96/3 off 11 overs. The introduction of youngsters Anjar Tadarus (3/10) and Angga Lucky (3/16) into the bowling attack saw things turned upside down, as the Ceylon middle and lower order collapsed in a heap to be all-out for 130 runs in 18 overs.

In trying to defend a low score, the Ceylon pace bowlers kept the ball in the right areas, as the pressure on Senayan batsmen started to mount. Attempting to negotiate the pressure, the Senayan batsmen started losing wickets at regular intervals.

With the exception of Amar Kapadia (41) none of the batsmen could offer any resistance as Senayan eventually folded up in the 18th over for 104. Satinder Singh (3/12) and Das (2/14) were the pick of the bowlers and were well supported by pacers Rajeev Kumar and Mufasil.

Ceylon, sharp on the field pouching 6 catches, must have been ruing the missed catches in its previous game, which led to its downfall against Emerio.

In another Group B game on Sunday at the same venue, Jaguar CC notched up its second straight win when it comfortably defeated TKCC by 5 wickets. Winning the toss and electing to field first, some accurate and hostile bowling from Dhimanshu (2/20) and Jagdeep (2/9) had TKCC immediately in trouble at 27/5 after 6.1 overs.

Despite Saktinarayan (11 runs) and Mukesh Khetan (42 runs off 45 balls) showing some semblance of recovery, TKCC could only trudge along to 103/7 in 20 overs. In reply TKCC stuck with the very first ball of the innings.

However the team’s joy was short-lived, as Dhimanshu Raghuwanshi, making his final appearance for the club, stuck boundaries at will.

Sparing no bowler while scoring 61 runs off just 40 balls, his innings that included 6 boundaries and 4 Sixes helped Jaguar CC overhaul the target in only the 12th over losing 5 wickets.

Meanwhile, Victorious Secret too scored its second consecutive win in Group A when it defeated Emerio Dragons by 7 wickets. Chasing 123 runs to win, Victorious Secret make it look all too easy as it reached the target in just 15 overs.

Kirubasankar top-scored with 57 runs, while Bhuvan took 2/19. Earlier, Emerio was all-out for 122 runs. Dwaraknath Naidu and Bhuvan scored 48 and 24 runs, respectively, while Desandri and Sohail Modak took 2 wickets each.
