    Try haleem & nihari gosht at Barbeque Nation this Ramzan

    The Awadhi specialty restaurant always impresses, but their time-bound Ramadan menu is especially tempting. For those of you looking forward to feast on street food delicacies, Chef Mukhtar Qureshi has created a traditional non-vegetarian menu that includes a hearty haleem, melt in the mouth kababs, salan, biryanis and indulgent malpua that you can’t miss out on. Another favorite are their lamb specials such as Gosht Ki Pasliyan, Kofta-E-Shee, Nizami Haleem, Gosht Bhindi and Ajmeri Biryani.

    2 Nawab Saheb

    This restaurant at Renaissance Convention Centre Hotel is popular for its Nawabi cuisine. This month, they are hosting a Ramadan special Kashmiri menu that is influenced by the traditional fare of the Kashmiri pundits, but has also been inspired by the cooking styles adopted in Central Asia, Persia and Afghanistan. There is extensive use of turmeric, yoghurt and spices which take their kebabs to a whole new level. Their Phirni is a must-have.

    3 Barbeque Nation

    Don’t miss the local favourites at this city eatery. Their special Ramadan menu will offer traditional iftaar foods such as their Haleem and a spicy Nihari Gosht. They’ve also got specialties from across the country such as Nizami Chicken Dum Biryani, Afghani Pulao and Lahori Pulao. Must-try desserts are Sheer Khurma, dates with seed and a wide selection of fresh fruits.

    4 Souk

    If you can’t deal with the crowd at Mohammed Ali Road, then make your way down to Taj Mahal Palace that’s got Middle-Eastern favourites. Chef Simon’s team has crafted two special menus to honour this month. Begin the ceremonial iftaar with assorted nuts, crudités and olives. Then enjoy an array of delicacies like Lahm Meshwi, Samak Meshwi, Sheesh Taouk or indulge in gourmet specials like Roze Kousharie, Bazella Bil Lahm paired with bread and pickles. Making desserts a sweet affair, the menu features Omali, Baklava, K’nafi Jibni and much more.

    5 The Sahib Room & Kipling Bar

    Venetian mirrors, gilt, brocade, Osler chandeliers and a mean kebab is what you’ll find at this posh eatery. A must-try during this season are their signatures dishes such as Kele ke Phool ke Kofte (hand-rolled banana flower patties in gravy topped with dry mint dust), Habibia Chapp (lamb chops marinated with black cumin and wild cucumber) and Gosht Pasanda (flattened lamb cooked on black stone with tandoori masala).
