Bill unpaid, discom cuts power to Sushant Lok water pumps
Gurgaon: Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) on Monday disconnected power connections of all water boosting stations in Sushant Lok I, claiming it had outstanding dues.
According to DHBVN, the maintenance company and the RWA had defaulted on two months' payment, amounting to around Rs 23 lakh. There are 11 water boosting stations in Sushant Lok I, which are used to supply water to the entire colony.
As DHBVN provides electricity to run the boosting station, it is the responsibility of Profac, the maintenance company appointed by the developer, and SLRWA (Sushant Lok Residents Welfare Association) to pay the electricity bills.
"Despite repeated reminders by our officials, to both maintenance company and RWA, the bills remain unpaid. We told them we could disconnect connections if they do not pay off the dues. Yet, last two months' bill has been pending," a DHBVN official told TOI.
Residents blamed the RWA and the maintenance company Profac for non-payment of dues. "We are at the mercy of the maintenance firm and the RWA. When it was decided that the RWA and Profac will have a joint account, we were hopeful our problems would be resolved. However, the issues have multiplied. It seems funds are being misused by both RWA and Profac," said Arunima Choudhary, a resident of Sushant Lok 1 A Block.
Some residents threatened to protest against Profac's "casual attitude" towards maintaining basic amenities in the society.
The RWA expressed helplessness, saying it has run out of funds as residents have not been paying maintenance charges. Profac general manager (facilities), Ravi Siani, concurred, saying the company is short of funds. "Only about 40% residents have been paying maintenance fee, since the news of takeover of the area by MCG. Residents feel the area will soon be taken over by the corporation," he said.
SLRWA president Dr Nagpal said, by Monday evening the issue has been settled with the RWA clearing all bills. DHBVN, though, has informed power will be restored only after the cheque paid by the RWA is cleared.
