Helpline under Nirbhaya scheme soon
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief secretary S M Vijayanand has convened a closed-door meeting with Sunitha Krishnan, activist and honorary director of Nibhaya scheme for women and children, other officials and stakeholders on Monday, to discuss effective implementation of the Nibhaya policy in the state.
Sources said the plan to set up four more one-stop crisis management cells (OSCC) was discussed at the meeting.
As per the Nirbhaya policy, the cells are established to ensure a single window clearance and support for victims at one place. Though 21 OSCCs exist across the state, these have not been serving their purpose.
SJD secretary A Shahjahan said "It has been decided to set up four full-fledged OSCC across the state with a 24-hour single centralized helpline. The first one in Thiruvananthapuram will be restored with a 24-hour helpline in a month."
The meeting will continue on Tuesday.
