Applications are invited for admission to postgraduate hostels for boys and girls run by department of social welfare. Application forms are available at the office of the assistant director, social welfare department. Application along with necessary documents should be submitted before June 25.
Healing camp: Divine Healing Foundation will organize a reiki healing camp at Canara First Grade College seminar hall on June 19 from 9am.Ayurveda practitioner and author of a book on reiki, Sathyanarayana will conduct the camp. Education kits: Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), in association with Adani Foundation, CSR wing of Adani Group, distributed education kits worth Rs 5.20 lakhs to 650 students studying in UBMC Higher Primary School in Santuru village, St Francis Higher Primary School, Mudarangadi, Government Higher Primary School in Kanchinadka, PPEC High School, Admar, Hindu Aided Higher Primary School, Admar, SVCS Aided Higher Primary School, Yellur and Government Higher Primary School, Kanchinadka. The education kits are being distributed to 60 government schools in Udupi district worth Rs 48 lakh.
Cricket tournament: Mangaluru zone of KSCA has announced its squad for the under-23 years KSCA inter-moffusil cricket tournament at Bengaluru from June 14 to 22. The squad headed by Adithya Rai, consists of Roshan N Shetty, Vikram PS and Pawan Raj, Manoj M, Lal Sachin, Pawan J Gokhale, Preetham Nayak, Abhishek Singh, K S Devaiah, Vaishak Thimmaiah, Dravid Rao, Somanath C Shetty, Abbubaker Yaseer, Darshan Machaiah, and Gopal C Shetty. Akshay N Shet, Sureen M U, Anirudh Aravind, Harsha M Shetty, and Chinmay S Hegde are the reserves in the side coached by Samuel Jayaraj Muthu and Nithin G.
Meeting held: MLC Ivan D'Souza conducted a meeting of problems faced by gilnet and traditional fishermen in Dakshina Kannada district in an effort to draw attention of the state government to problems faced by them. There are 1,358 licensed fishing boats in which more than 15,000 fishermen work. Nearly 300 fishing boats still do not get subsidised kerosene, Ivan noted directing officials to release the same.
