SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti stated that Suchetgarh area near Jammu international border would soon have Wagah pattern function, while two more routes across Line of Control would be opened to enhance bonhomie between India and Pakistan.
The chief minister claimed that opening of roads and making borders irrelevant would ‘end many misconceptions people across the borders are suffering from.’ “Some of us in Kashmir want to break fast across the border. It can be a reality and help us creating peaceful atmosphere,” Mufti said while answering a question in Legislative Council (upper house).

The chief minister informed that she convened a meeting with Director General BSF to start a ceremony at Suchetgarh and urged them to request Pakistani counterparts to participate as well. Suchetgarh is the nearest place from Jammu on the Indian side and Sialkot from the Pakistan side.

“Even if Pakistan does not participate, I have urged BSF officials to go ahead with the ceremony on our side. And an amusement park would be set up as well,” she said. Money has already been allotted to develop the area and it would be a new tourist attraction in Jammu division.
