The group tasked with shaping the future of Canada’s science policy has strong ties to Waterloo.

Included on the nine-member panel, which was announced Monday, are Quantum Valley Investments co-founder Mike Lazaridis – better known for his co-founding of Research in Motion – and Wilfrid Laurier University psychology professor Anne Wilson.

They will be tasked with reviewing the federal government’s current efforts supporting science and scientists, soliciting input from the scientific community, examining international best practices, and making suggestions for improving Canada’s supports for science.

Members of the public can also offer suggestions via the Canada’s Fundamental Science Review website.

The panel will be chaired by David Naylor, a former president of the University of Toronto.
