Fish found dead at Goregaon in Mumbai

Several fishes were found dead today morning at Shantaram Talav located at Patanwadi in Goregaon. The local ward office said that they immediately called for officials from the Department of Fisheries as well as have got water samples from the talav taken to understand why this happened.

MUMBAI: Several fish were found dead on Monday morning at Shantaram Talav located at Patanwadi in Goregaon. The local ward office said that they immediately called for officials from the department of fisheries as well as have got water samples from the pond taken to understand why this happened.
Around 11.30 am, several fish were found dead in the water body located near the Western Express Highway.
BMC assistant municipal commissioner Sangeeta Hasnale said that they had informed the disaster management department as well as the department of fisheries. "We have also sent the water samples for testing at our G South ward so that we understand if the water was contaminated. The dead fish have been removed," said Hasnale.
Meanwhile, officials from the BMC also added that not all fish from the water body have died. "We are yet to ascertain the quantum of fish, which have died. We are expecting help from the department of fisheries," said a civic official.
