GREATER NOIDA: The hearing on petition seeking registration of an FIR against Akhlaq’s family in Surajpur Court has been scheduled for June 23.
A Bisada resident Surajpal Singh (65) had filed a complaint based on the forensic report of meat seeking registration of the case. Rajeev Tyagi, lawyer of Surajpal Singh, said that the judicial magistrate was on leave hence the matter was not taken up for hearing.

“The case has been scheduled for a hearing on June 23. The Jarcha police station has submitted a report that so far no FIR has been registered in the police station in this regard,” Tyagi said.
Surajpal Singh, along with some Bisada residents, last week gave an application to the Chief Judicial Magistrate under Section 156(3) of CrPC with a request to direct the police to lodge an FIR.
The family members of accused in Akhlaq murder have been demanding registration of FIR against the deceased’s family since the release of forensic report of meat on June 2.
Last month they held a panchayat in village and gave an ultimatum to police to file an FIR against Akhlaq’s family members within 20 days.
The police officials maintain that the meat sample was picked up from tri-junction near transformer outside Akhlaq’s house.
The Gautam Budh Nagar SSP Dharmendra Singh has already asked circle officer Dadri to investigate the complaint of accused family before any action is initiated in this regard.
