No power supply

There will be no power supply on June 14 from 9am to 5pm to the following places: Kundapur town, Japthi Water Supply, Koni, Amparu, Japthi, Kalavara, Basruru, Kodi, Ballur, Anagalli, Gopadi, Kumbhashi, Tekkatte, Koteshwara, Molahalli, Korgi, Vandse, Gulwadi, Bandya, Gangolli, Shiroor, Uppunda, Kollur, Karkunje, Keradi, Talluru, Byndoor, Golihole, Kergal, Trasi, Hemmadi, Bellala, Chittor, Hattiyangadi, Badakere, Aluru, Harkuru, Hakladi, Noojadi, Kundabarandadi, Senapura, Yalajit, Ganganadu, Nada, Hosadu, Hadav, Gujjadi, Hombadi, Mandadi, Devalkunda and adjoining places.

Swimming champ: Vaishnav Hegde, II PUC student of St Philomina PU college, Puttur, has made Dakshina Kannada proud by performing excellently at the selection round for World School Swimming Championship conducted by School Games Federation of India at Bhopal on June 7. He has qualified for the World School Swimming Championship to be conducted in Trabjon, Turkey next month. He will represent the Indian swimming team in 50 mts breast, 100 mts breast and 50 mts free frestyle. He happens to be the only swimmer from the district in 2016 to qualify for this event. Last month he had participated in the Asian Swimming championship at Indonesia. He has been training under Partha Varanashi, Vasanth Kumar and Niroop G R at Dr Shivarama Karantha Balavana Swimming pool, Puttur.

The Yuva Asmitay Award will be conferred on actor and dramatist Suchita Narvenkar. The awards constituted for the service in Konkani field will be presented on June 17 in Goa.
Awareness week: Konkan Railway observed level crossing awareness week from June 6 to June 10. As part of the week, Konkan railway officials carried out inspection of LC Gate 85A near Nandikoor railway station. Assistant traffic manager, Konkan Railway, Mangaluru, assistant operating manager, (safety)/ Karwar, assistant operating manager (Goods) Belapur, Mumbai and area supervisor, Udupi visited government higher primary school and government PUC College at Palimaru which is near LC Gate 85 A. Students were explained about safety precautions to be observed at level crossings by road users. Pamphlets creating awareness about safety precaution to be observed at LC gate were distributed among students, lecturers, gram panchayath office and also to road users.
RTO circular: Regional Transport Office has warned of action against the use of private vehicles as taxis and also school vehicles. RTO officials said they have received complaints about the use of private vehicles in the city, Ullal and Bantwal. All such vehicles should get registered as commercial vehicles forthwith, and if they fail to do, the RTO officials will impose heavy fines.
Yoga Day: To observe International Day of Yoga, Avishkar yoga will organise free yoga training at six places from June 13 to June 20. It will be held at following places: Avishkar Yoga Bejai, La Vei Fitness Center, Kadri Shivabhag, Sharadha Niketana, Chilimbi Urwa, Derebail Konchady Yuvaka Mandala, Jeevan Tara Hall, Suratkal and Karnataka Ayurveda College Ashoknagara, Urwa. Theatre diploma: Kundapur Ranga Adhyayana Kendra has invited applications for one year diploma in theatre. The course is affiliated to Kannada University, Hampi. The classes will commence from July 18. Those who have passed SSLC with experience in theatre activities will be given preference. Apply before July 4 and interview will be held on July 9.
