Bhubaneswar: Former Nabarangapur MP and Congress leader Pradeep Majhi stirred up a hornet's nest by describing the party high command as "soft" towards those state leaders, who have been creating disturbances in the party.
In his twitter handle (#wakeupnaveen), Majhi's post goes like this: "So Haryana is next Odisha. Soft stand and lack of initiative from high command to make state leaders accountable is damaging the party."
Majhi's tweet came a day after former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda shocked the Congress by asking 14 MLAs to protest against the party's decision in the Rajya Sabha election.

His tweet, questioning the high command's lack of teeth, came at a time when the state Congress leadership is facing growing dissidence within the party.
Ob being contacted, Majhi admitted to having writing the tweet. "I tweeted in the backdrop of the Haryana development, which shocked the party. A Haryana-like revolt was seen in Congress in Odisha in the past where some individual leaders behaved as if they were above the party," Majhi told TOI. He refused to comment on whether he finds any rebellion within the party. "The high command should have a firm control on the state leaders and crack the whip on troublemakers," Majhi said.

The young Congress leader took to Facebook and said the party has serious deficiency of women leaders. "Tribal and Dalit leaders are just kept as showpieces. There is serious lack of coordination with the youth wing. Our public relations office is weaker than BJP and our event management leaves a lot to be desired. Our fund-raising channels are not target-oriented and our logistic wing lacks manpower," his Facebook post read.
Congress state president Prasad Harichandan said he would verify Majhi's posts on the social networking sites. "I will go through his tweet and Facebook post and speak to him," Harichandan said.
In a related development, former OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik said discontentment continues to trouble the party. "There are some rats in the party, who want to create disturbance for the leadership. Steps are being taken to kill those rats," he said.
