Mumbai: Shiv Sena will go with ‘Gandhigiri’ on Monday. Shiv Vahatuk Sena, Sena’s transport wing, will start a drive - ‘Sar bachao, ghar bachao’ (protect head, protect your family). It will appeal bikers to follow traffic rules and wear helmet while riding. They will also give a helmet to those riding without one.
“The drive will be held in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Mira-Bhayandar and Pune on the occasion of Yuva Sena Chief Aaditya Thackeray’s birthday.
During the day, we will distribute over 5,000 helmets to those riding without helmet and appeal them to follow traffic rules,” said Haji Arafat Shaikh, Sena deputy leader and president of Shiv Vahatuk Sena.
About 25 shivsainiks will be on locations like Sion circle, Bandra signal near Mhada Building, Goregaon Aarey road in Mumbai, Vashi Creek Bridge, Palm Beach road in Navi Mumbai and on highway on Mira-Bhayandar, said Shaikh.
“The drive will continue for the next 3-4 months. We will also appeal to youth who either ride bikes on a high speed or are involved in racing at night that their parents bought the bikes for their child’s happiness and not to lose them,” said Sena deputy leader.
