Scribes protest against blackout of Sakshi channel

Protesting against the blackout of Sakshi channel, journalists, photographers and videographers staged demonstrations in all mandal headquarters of Kurnool district on Sunday following a call given by the A.P. Union of Working Journalists.

Sporting black ribbons around their mouth, the scribes and lensmen took out a rally from Asthanam to Nawab circle in Banaganapalle and formed a human chain with students’ organisations expressing solidarity. The demonstrators placed memoranda at the Ambedkar statue, Adoni, idol of Sri Guru Raghavendra Swamy at Mantralayam and at the Mahatma Gandhi statue, Alur.

The union members staged a half-naked protest and a rasta roko at Alur and Kodumur. Scribes staged dharnas at Gandhi Circle in Dhone, Mahanandi, Nandyal, Kosigi, Kowthalam, Yemmiganur, Pathikonda, Atmakur, Peddakabadur, and Adoni. Leaders of CPI, CPI (M) and Awaaz took part in the protest at Nandyal. In Kurnool town, APUWJ district president T. Ambanna and general secretary M. Ramamohan led a candlelight rally from Zilla Parishad to Rajavihar circle.
