Tributes paid to Banda Bahadur

SHIMLA: Rich tributes were paid to warrior Banda Bahadur on his 300th martyrdom day and hundreds of people gathered to offer floral tribute to the great hero at a programme organised by the state unit of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) here today.

Rich tributes were paid to warrior Banda Bahadur on his 300th martyrdom day and hundreds of people gathered to offer floral tribute to the great hero at a programme organised by the state unit of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) here today.

A function was organised on the occasion and a special issue of Himalaya Dhwani on Banda Bahadur was released by Governor Acharya Devvrat.

Acharya Devvrat said Banda Bahadur was a great warrior and hero of the 18th century who kept the flag of “dharma” flying till his last breath.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kuldeep Agnihotri, Vice-Chancellor, Central University, Kangra, said he not only took revenge of martyrdom of sons of Guru Teg Bahadur, but also established the Khalsa Raj.
