The first batch of 55 pilgrims, including two from Uttarakhand, reached Kumaon from New Delhi today.

The pilgrims, including eight women, were received by Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) officers at Haldwani. “The pilgrims will be given a traditional welcome in the region. They will be given better travelling and lodging facilities at higher trek route camps as the KMVN has modernised huts at Sirkha, Bundi and Gunji camps, besides hiring comfortable vehicles for travelling up to the base camp and beyond,” said TS Martolia, General Manager, Tourism at KMVN.

The KMVN is the nodal agency for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from the Lipulekh pass and it has completed all preparations for the pilgrimage.
