Vadodara: The medical committee of Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) met recently to discuss and work out solutions on how to prevent injuries to cricketers and keep them fit throughout the year. Doctors from private hospitals and BCA officials are part of the committee that also discussed about nutritious diet for the players.
BCA secretary (in-charge), Snehal Parikh said that the committee discussed about getting guidance from the panel of doctors and how to improve the standard of medical treatment to players of all age groups from Under-12 school boys and women cricketers to U-14, U-16, U-19 and Ranji players for the upcoming season.
“BCA has tie-ups with reputed doctors and hospitals across the city. But it was pointed out that on-the-spot preliminary inspection and action by trained and qualified personnel could make big difference to the treatment and eventual recovery,” Parikh said.
Committee member, Dr Darshan Banker suggested that a first aid training course be imparted to all the support staff involved in coaching. BCA COO, Makarand Lele was assigned the task of designing this program under the guidance of Banker. Also present in the meeting were BCA, Cricket Improving committee (CIC) members in Rakesh Parikh as well as Kiran More who gave suggestions in connection with players’ diet and fitness.
