Mysuru: Nearly three dozen students of a government school were injured, some of them seriously, after an auto they were travelling in toppled in Nanjangud on Saturday.
After Saturday's class, around 35 students of Kasubanahalli Government Higher Primary and High School were waiting to board a bus to return to their villages at a stop. An auto-rickshaw driver was passing through the stop and he lured the student flock to drop them at their villages for a fare lesser than that of bus.
"The goods auto driver after seeing us said he will charge just Rs 5, which is less than bus fare. He forcibly took us into his auto,"said Chandu, an eighth standard student.
A kilometre away from the school in Kasubanahalli in Nanjangud taluk, the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve near Tethegowdanahalli cross. Students, including girls, suffered bruises and fractures. A boy is extremely injured in his right leg. "Within few seconds, I saw my friends writhing in pain with injuries," Chandu said.
Students regularly travel in bus to school for a 4-km ride one side. Chandu who has escaped with minor injuries claimed there is no adequate bus facility on this route.

Nanjangud Rural Police arrested auto driver and have registered a case. Deputy commissioner C Shikha, superintendent of police Abhinav Khare and DDPI Basappa visited KR Hospital and spoke to students.
