US-based NGO to co-host meet at madrassa
Varanasi: NGO Human Welfare Association (HWA), in collaboration with Global Children Fund (GFC), a Washington DC-based non-profit organization, whose mission is to transform the lives of the world's most vulnerable children, is going to hold an event for children at a madarsa in Jansa area on Sunday.
According to HWA president Rajni Kant, the aim of the event is to draw the attention of the state government towards the plight of working children.
It is unfortunate that Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of child labourers, he said.
He said that children mostly from Muslim dominated localities will take part in the event to share their experiences and highlight the problems they have been facing. A number of them are school drop-outs due to poverty and lack of government schools in their respective areas.
