Bengaluru: A 33-year-old graduate has been arrested for pretending to be a model coordinator and stealing women's jewellery. Police said CR Arun Kumar, 33, a BCA graduate, created a fake Facebook account with a woman's name to lure girls interested in modelling to meet him for a photo shoot, during which he would steal their jewellery.
"Two women lodged a complaint with us saying he asked them to remove their jewellery as it was inappropriate for the photo shoot.
He placed the jewellery in his car. After clicking a couple of photographs, he told them he needed to change the lens and disappeared," police said.
Arun, a resident of Yelahanka Upanagara, was arrested by the northeast division police on Friday based on two separate complaints lodged on April 30 and May 15. They seized the car he used for the crime, a mobile phone, a tablet, Rs 5.3 lakh in cash and two chains weighing 24 grams.
Police said that Arun had quit multiple jobs before taking to cheating women and stealing. They said it wasn't immediately clear if more women have been cheated. "We received two complaints. We are interrogating him to find out if he cheated more people," police said.
