Panipat, June 11
The police have arrested four persons for allegedly pilfering oil from the Mundra-Panipat main line of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Refinery from near village Sutana of the district.
The accused — Vinod of Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh, Babloo of Tekra Panjusia in Bihar, Amit alias Mitta of Bhambewa village in Jind district and Veerpal of Sultan Puri in Delhi — were sent into four-day police remand by a local court here today.
Superintendent of Police Rahul Sharma said they had stolen oil over 9 times in the last two months from the main line.
Preliminary investigation revealed the accused filled oil tankers when the pressure remained high for 8 to 10 minutes in the night. The oil was sold in Delhi, later.
Oil theft was detected in the Mundra-Panipat pipe line of the IOCL refinery at Sutana village on June 6. The miscreants had installed a valve on the main pipe line to pilfer oil.
