5 dead, 24 injured in bus mishap

Solan, Jun 11(UNI) At least five people, including two women died on the spot and 24 others were injured, 20 of them seriously, when a private bus rolled down into a deep gorge near Chamakari pul on Shimla – Mandi National Highway under Arki sub division of Solan district today.
The deceased were identified as Vikas (37), resident of Panjgai in Bilaspur, Tripta (21) of Pathrighat village in Mandi district, Banarasi Mahlon (40) of Ghagra area of Jharkhand and Chohan Singh ( 35) of Banjar area of Kullu district while fifth victim was not identified till the filing of this report. 20 passangers who sustained grevious injuries were refererd to IGMC Shimla while four with light injuries were being treated at Drala hospital.
Darla Deputy SP Narvir Singh Rathor said preliminary investigations revealed that the mishap took place at around 1545 hrs. When the driver of the ill fated bus no (HP 31 C- 2016) could not negotiate a sharp curve near Chamakari pul on the Highway.
