Countdown to the royal wedding begins
The royal wedding of Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the adopted son of Pramoda Devi, and Trishika Kumari Singh, daughter of Harshawardhan Singh and Maheshree Kumari from the Dungarpur royal family, Rajasthan, is set to take place at the Kalyan Mantap at the Mysuru Palace on June 27. This will be the first wedding in 40 years, with the last one being that of the late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar's nuptials to Pramoda Devi in 1976. The wedding, say sources, will be an intimate affair, with only family members, relatives and select guests in attendance.
However, huge LED screens will be errected in front of the Palace for the general public to witness the nuptials. Though Yaduveer has said that the ceremony will be a simple affair, it is expected to be a grand event spanning three days.
The royal family has requested the Palace Board to restrict tourist movement in the premises between June 24 and June 29. After the wedding, a reception will be held at the Durbar on June 28. Invites to the wedding have already been distributed, with guests expected to follow a dress code. While men have to wear white or black blazers and sport Mysuru pettas, women are to wear saris.
As part of the wedding preparations, Yaduveer and Pramoda Devi recently visited temples in Melkote. The lagnakattu ceremony was held in April in the presence of both members.
