Kakrapar Atomic Power Station employee arrested for rape

Tapi police arrested a 27-year-old man working in Kakrapar Atomic Power Station (KAPS) of Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCL) near here for raping a woman. He was produced before a local court, which sent him to judicial custody on Friday. The accused and the 32-year-old woman complainant were earlier subjected to medical examination by the police.

Surat: Tapi police arrested a 27-year-old man working in Kakrapar Atomic Power Station (KAPS) of Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCL) near here for raping a woman.
He was produced before a local court, which sent him to judicial custody on Friday. The accused and the 32-year-old woman complainant were earlier subjected to medical examination by the police.

The woman came in touch with the accused through social media. She came to KAPS Colony in Tapi district to meet accused Saurabh Singh Roshan Singh on May 30. The accused promised to marry her and they had physical relationship.
After a few days Saurabh Singh asked her to leave as he was already married and that his wife was about to return from her parents' home. The woman felt cheated and filed a complaint of rape against the accused on June 9 at Kakrapar police station of Tapi district.
Bhagirath Gadhvi, deputy superintendent of police, Tapi district, said, "The accused told us he had informed her about his marital status and that it was consensual sex and not rape. We are inquiring into the antecedents of the complainant woman. We are awaiting medical reports to further proceed in the case."
