In order to prevent the diversion of kerosene supply from below the poverty line card holders to industrial and commercial users through the black market, the Department of Food and Civil Supplies has introduced an Aadhaar card linked biometric coupon-based system for kerosene distribution. Kumuda Sharath, Deputy Director of Food and Civil Supplies, launched the system on Friday by issuing coupons to the eligible ration cardholders.
The Department, on a pilot basis, selected Guthalu beneficiaries co-operative society, Nandish fair price shop, Anwar Ali Khan fair price shop, the Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd. kerosene shop at Kallahalli, Shankarapura beneficiaries co-operative society, Chamundeshwari beneficiaries co-operative society, Seva Sahakara Sangha at Guthalu, Lambani Banjaar Seva Sangha, fair price shop at Halahalli Muslim Block and Arkeshwar beneficiaries co-operative society.
