Odisha wants CBI probe into teen rape-murder

Last year on May 22, the victim’s body was found mutilated after she had gone to a small rivulet for a morning bath.

A year after a 15-year-old Dalit girl of Bolangir district was allegedly raped and murdered by unknown people, the Odisha government recommended a CBI probe into the incident Friday.

“The state home department recommended the probe after… the State police and CID failed to catch the actual offender or discover any material clue. The deceased being a Dalit girl, there is every reason to believe outburst of inter-communal rift and ill-feeling due to non-detection of the case,” the state government wrote in a letter to the MHA while recommending a CBI probe.
