Ludhiana: A day after 62 years old wife of a chartered accountant at Dyal Nagar was killed, the police are yet to identify the accused.
Mridula Sachdeva was found murdered in the drawing room of her two-storey house an hour after her husband, Ravinder Sachdeva, left for his office. Their terminally-ill pet dog was found in the adjoining room, apparently in an unconscious condition.
About the latest status of the case, division number eight SHO Gaurav Taura said till now the accused has not been identified but they suspected that he might be someone with a monetary dispute with the family.

The police officer said they have scanned around 50 CCTV cameras in the area, but couldn't get a clue. He said in the footage of one of the cameras, a suspect was seen on a two-wheeler but neither his face nor the number plate was clear. The police said investigations suggested that the family had monetary issues with three parties and the involvement of some former servants was also being probed. Sources said cops were also questioning the maid who was working at the house during the day. No one has been detained.
Cops said Mridula was alone at home on Thursday noon when the accused, believed to be an acquaintance, came inside and smashed a vase on her head. He might have strangulated her before throwing her body in the drawing room, they added.
Police said the miscreant ran away on the two-wheeler -- bought by the family last month -- as it had keys inserted in it. The maid who came to clean the house around 1.30pm informed the neighbours after seeing the body. One of the neighbours checked the pulse and found her dead. The neighbours then informed Mridula's husband as well as the police.
