Wind storm claims life of a person in Jalandhar

Jalandhar, Jun 10 (UNI) Wind storm claimed life of a person in the city this evening when the boundary wall of Sain Dass Senior Secondary School ground near Patel Chowk collapsed.
The person was said to be standing near the wall when due to wind storm, the wall caved in and fell on him. Another person who was also standing near him sustained injuries. He was immediately rushed to the civil hospital.
Reports from certain other parts of the city said that power poles, trees and telephone poles were uprooted in Urban Estate areas due to high velocity wind storm that rocked the city this evening at about 1730 hrs. In central town, a part of the wall of a house caved in resulting into heavy damage to a vehicle which was standing stationary near the wall. Several people sustained injuries as the sign boards and iron sheets covering temporary sheds and rooms atop roofs flew in the air.
