Panaji: Notwithstanding the poor cellular connectivity, Goa is slowly warming up to the smartphone
generation. Longer working hours and a large number of students living away from home has created a
market for the delivery-on-demand sector. With hyper-local deliveries keen to change the way you shop,
Margao-based entrepreneur Deshaj Mapxencar wants to bring your favourite restaurant or grocer to your
doorstep.

Mapxencar’s five-month old startup, Brasham Infotech delivers food and groceries all with a few clicks
and a swipe on your smartphone that is if you reside in Margao, Panjim or Porvorim. “Most of our
customers are housewives, senior citizens and youngsters. In Margao, Fatorda is working well for us
while in Panaji, I think Miramar and Dona Paula has a lot of potential,” the 21-year-old says.
The inspiration behind Brasham Infotech came following a trip to Bengaluru, where Mapxencar saw the

convenience offered by hyperlocal delivery startups. The management graduate soon got a few app
developers on board to design a smartphone app called Brasham Delivery, which currently is available
free for Android smartphones. The team at Brasham Infotech includes developer and designer Deepak
Agarwal, marketting manager Phillipson Fernandes and operational manager Prateik Chourdia.
Over the next six months, the son of Armyman Dattaraj and parenting consultant Sharmila wants to take
Brasham Delivery across the state and somewhere down the line into Gujarat. His parents initially
funded his venture but once the amount exceeded Rs 1.50 lakh they put the brakes on fund flow. “We are
now looking for funding Rs 20 lakh. It is mainly for marketing and to bring in new features like
tracking of your delivery,” the MES college graduate said.
Brasham Delivery currently services 45 orders a day. It has ties with popular restaurants including
O’Coqueiro, Goenchin, Edu’s, Woodland, Mandovi and several others. For groceries Mapxencar has signed
up with Borkar’s in Margao and Delfino’s in Porvorim. “We will soon tie up with smaller retail stores,”
Mapxencar said.
The startup promises to get food delivered in 30 minutes and groceries in an hour. In the future
Mapxencar is eyeing Vasco and Mapusa and also has plans to launch the app for iOS and Windows. “When
you have an idea, you can build a great product. You just need a goal,” Mapxencar states while
explaining what drives him.
