‘Vijayadasami’ or ‘Dasara’ will be the day when the new districts and mandals of Telangana will be unveiled as per the road map cleared by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, on the second day of the Collectors’ conference here on Wednesday.
The government had decided on having consultations with people’s representatives and also taking suggestions from citizens before finalising the proposed division of the existing 10 districts.
Collectors were directed to present their comprehensive reports incorporating suggestions given in the current meeting and after discussing with Joint Collectors, revenue officials and other senior officials to the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA), Raymond Peter, before June 20.
And, he in turn, in consultation with Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, would finalise the draft report on the new districts and mandals. The Chief Minister participated in the meeting on the concluding day and Mr. Sharma had presided over the first day meeting with the Collectors at the Dr.MCRHRD Institute here on Tuesday.
All-party meeting
For the entire June, all the local people’s representatives like MLAs, MLCs and others would be consulted on the draft report and their inputs taken.
This would be followed by another Collectors’ conference on July 5 to discuss the format of the draft report with the suggestions of people’s representatives.
Then, there would be an all-party meeting held by the Government with other political parties either on July 10 or 11 after which the draft notification would be released between August 4 and 10 giving a month’s time for the Collectors to receive objections.
Incorporating these into the draft notification, they had to submit the proposal to the Revenue Secretary and the CCLA.
The entire exercise would be completed and the new districts and mandals would be ready on Oct.11, ‘Vijayadasami’ when the Collectors and other district administration machinery too would take charge.
Personnel requirement
Mr. Rao advised the Collectors to also plan for the personnel required for the new districts, ensure that experienced officials were posted, and decide on furniture and other related issues beforehand.
