History gone wrong: Modi declares Konark Sun Temple 2000 years old
This is not the first time that the Indian PM has got history all wrong.
WASHINGTON (Web Desk) – It seems that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi needs to get history lessons.
On Monday, at a ceremony in Washington DC to mark the repatriation of ancient Indian cultural artifacts, Modi took the opportunity to expound on India’s heritage.
“In Konark Sun Temple, over 2000 years ago, artists made sculptures akin to the modern fashionable girl who wears skirts and holds a purse in her hand. This means such things were there in those times also," the Prime Minister said.
With this statement Modi has yet again proved that he does not possess any grasp on Indian history.
According to the Archaeological Survey of India, the Sun Temple at Konark, Odisha, was built in the 13th century or 700 years ago and the temple is famous for its erotic sculptures.
Twitterati were quick to point out the error and mocked him for his history humour.

This is not the first time that the Indian PM has got history all wrong.
In 2013, while campaigning for the BJP, prime ministerial candidate Modi called Mahatma Gandhi--Mohanlal Karamchand Gandhi instead of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
In the same year, he made Pakistan’s city Taxila as a part of India’s Bihar.
In 2014, Modi accused Congress party established in 1885 that they ignored the 1857 independence war.
Moreover in 2013, Modi stated that value of one dollar equal to one rupee which was entirely wrong.
