Maharani Arts College principal suspended

Following the protest by the inmates of the Maharani's hostel, the department of collegiate education has suspended Maharani's Arts College for Women principal Purushotam.

Mysuru: Following the protest by the inmates of the Maharani's hostel, the department of collegiate education has suspended Maharani's Arts College for Women principal Purushotam.
Based on the direction from the chief minister's office, the commissioner of department of collegiate education has issued the suspension letter of Purushotam. The letter is with DCE joint director Morabad Mallikarjuna as Purushotam sensing suspension had gone on a long leave.
The suspension order will be handed over to him after his return to work.
Collegiate Education Department joint director Morabada Mallikharjuna told TOI that Purushotam had been suspended on Tuesday. A departmental enquiry will also be conducted along with inquiry by ZP CEO PA Gopal.
The department has appointed Maharani's Economics department head Bashira Sultana as the incharge of the hostel administration.
Bashira took charge on Wednesday. Meanwhile, as per the orders from chief minister Siddaramaiah, Mysuru zilla panchayat CEO PA Gopal is probing the charges of maladministration and misuse of funds by principal Purushotam and hostel committee members. CM directed CEO Gopal after Maharani's hostel students conducted protests inside the campus and expressed their grievances before CM Siddaramaiah at his residence in Mysuru.

CM was upset with principal Purushothama after he refused to attend a meeting called by Siddaramaiah at his home on Sunday. The principal is accused of ill-treating the inmates following their protest and has threatened to install CCTV cameras in restrooms and rooms.
Last week, Mysuru ZP CEO Gopal visited the hostel and heard the grievances and allegation of the students. Hostel students under anonymity said that ZP CEO Gopal visited hostel for two days and heard the complaints from the students. He also held discussions with the committee members before the students.
Meanwhile, ZP CEO Gopal told TOI that from past four years there was no internal audit conducted in the hostel by the administration.
