A youth snatched the chain of a woman who was drawing a kolam outside her house at Gowrivakkam on Wednesday morning.
According to police sources, Sridevi (75), a resident of Pazhaniyappa Nagar Second Street, was kneeling down and drawing the kolam when an unidentified youth riding pillion on a two-wheeler suddenly snatched her three-and-a-half sovereign gold chain.The duo on the motorcycle fled the scene before residents could rush in to help.
The woman filed a complaint and the Selaiyur police have registered a case and are investigating.
In a similar incident, Valarmathi (30) of Medavakkam also lost her five-sovereign chain to a motorcycle-borne duo when she was drawing a kolam in front of her house. The case is under investigation by the Pallikaranai police.
