Council Chairman reviews supply of essentials to Ladakh

SRINAGAR, June 8: With a view to review the supply position of essential commodities to Ladakh region, a high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali here today.
Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CA&PD), Ch. Zulfkar Ali was also present in the meeting.
It was informed in the meeting that for sale of foodgrains under PDS, the CA&PD has set up a network of 418 sale outlets in Ladakh region in which 203 sale outlets are in Kargil and 215 are functioning in Leh.
It was also given out that in Leh 4411 MTs of Rice and in Kargil 4112 MTs of Rice has been stored till date. Besides, 900 MTs of Atta has been dispatched to Kargil.
Haji Anayat instructed the officers overseeing the supply of essential commodities to Ladakh region to ensure uninterrupted food grain and petroleum products in the area. He said that Ladakh is the remotest region of the state, where people face lot of difficulties especially in winters. He said that besides storage of adequate foodgrains in the region, fair price shops and LPG extension counters should be established in the twin districts.
Ch. Zulfkar directed the concerned authorities to install GPRS tracking system on Kerosene Oil Tankers to stop oil pilferage. He also instructed the concerned to set up Petrol Pumps in Nobra and Zanskar.
Secretary, CAPD, Director, CAPD Kashmir, Deputy General Manager, FCI, Regional Manager, HPCL, State Level Coordinator, IOCL besides officers and official of concerned Departments and Council Secretariat were present in the meeting.
