Lawyer murder case: Boyfriend surrenders
Chennai: The boyfriend of the wife of advocate C Murugan, who was hacked to death by a gang in Kodambakkam on Monday, surrendered in a judicial magistrate's court in Ponneri. Shanmuganathan, who lives in Puzhal and runs a printing press, is suspected to have plotted the murder with Murugan's wife, Lokeshini.
On Monday, the city police arrested Lokeshini, a school teacher, and three of the goons she hired to murder Murugan.
Interrogations revealed that Lokeshini hired the gang for 2 lakh.
Police said she met Shanmuganathan two years ago and re-established their relationship which began when they were in Class 11. Shanmuganathan, who is married to another woman, reportedly convinced Lokeshini that he was still a bachelor.
Police also recovered an audio tape in which both of them discuss the murder of the advocate. Police said they are likely to take Shanmuganathan into custody to get more details on how the murder was executed. tnn
