The Congress has found itself in a Catch-22 situation with the entry of media baron Subhash Chandra and noted lawyer R K Anand as Independent candidates in the fray. While the BJP is backing Chandra, the Chautalas have thrown their weight behind Anand, a former Congressman. Sources said Hooda was against backing Anand and so are most of the leaders, including Bishnoi.
However, the party cannot back Chandra either since he is supported by the BJP and even abstaining from the elections would ensure his victory.
