When Anasuya Ramalingam (Samantha) takes a rustic retreat in Kalvapudi, her bava Anand Vihari (Nithiin) takes her on a beautiful trip through the village in the song Ya Ya. The visual treat that the song offers is now turning into that one scene that movie-goers seem to have loved in the film. And for the man behind the camera, Nataraj Subramaniam aka Natty, the rave reviews are a perfect pay back for all his efforts.

The song Ya Ya actually captures exactly what we were looking for, he enthuses. I spent nearly a month on recce and travelled to several places in coastal Andhra, in search of a location that matched the specific visuals Trivikram had in mind. My point of reference was the authentic, rustic charm of Malgudi Days.
But despite spending so much time and effort hunting for the perfect location in Andhra, Natty and the crew finally zeroed in on Pollachi in Coimbatore. Why? We felt that the place best suited the mood of the film. Moreover, Trivikram had shot there earlier, explains the cinamatographer, who admits that he fell in love with the story of A... Aa, the very first time he heard it. And therefore, it got the best out of Natty.
Behind all that beauty though, there was a lot of pain and hardwork, he admits. It was like working in an oven. Everybody fell sick during that schedule! Samantha, Hari Teja, me... all of us! But, the challenge was to not let any of that show.
While the natural beauty of Pollachi took care of the stunning visuals, Natty has a preference when it comes to fixing a shot. I prefer close ups and like to light up the faces of actors based on different moods and emotions. I am glad Trivikram gave me the freedom to do that.
