Camp for more than 10,000 disabled persons at Navsari in Gujarat

More than 10,000 disabled persons will be participating in the first ever assessment camp to be held at district town of Navsari some 30 km of Surat city from all districts of South Gujarat on Monday.

More than 10,000 disabled persons will be participating in the first ever assessment camp to be held at district town of Navsari some 30 km of Surat city from all districts of South Gujarat on Monday.
SURAT: More than 10,000 disabled persons will be participating in the first ever assessment camp to be held at district town of Navsari some 30 km of Surat city from all districts of South Gujarat on Monday.
In this five day camp, to be held under Assistance to Disabled persons (ADPS) scheme of Government of Gujarat, medical professionals will assess their disabilities to provide medical kits to them at free of cost.
The camp will be held at Sardar Patel school campus of Navsari and daily more than 2,000 people will be checked and their disabilities assessed.
Selected beneficiaries will be provided with kits that will help them in their daily life. For example, visually impaired people will be given a Braille smartphone and Braille smart walking-stick. Persons without limbs will be given artificial legs and limbs.
Navsari administration has not limited this camp to their own district but conveyed information to other districts of South Gujarat and made arrangements on PPP basis to bring in disabled people from Surat, Valsad, Tapi , Dangs and other nearby districts.
On a daily basis, 20 buses will be provided to bring in the prospective beneficiaries to Navsari. Arrangements for food and room for the night if required is also been taken care of.
Ravi Arora, Collector Navsari said, “Six doctors from government have already arrived here. We hope to find at least 4,000 beneficiaries at the end of the camp. These beneficiaries would be supplied kits in second week of July.”
In such camps held earlier at Mathura by BJP MP Hema Malini, 800 beneificiaries were given kits, whereas in a similar camp held at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency of Varanasi, 1100 beneficiaries were distributed kits.
