DTE Maharashtra has extended the last date for online registration of application for CAP 2016 till June 7, 2016 from earlier June 3 for admission to MBA programmes
Candidates who took May MAT 2016 and improved their scores substantially but missed to register for CAP 2016 earlier have a good opportunity to register by June 7

DTE Maharashtra has extended the last date for online registration of application for Centralized Admission Process (CAP) till June 7, 2016 from earlier June 3 for admission to MBA programmes in the B-schools across Manaharshtra. The application can now be made through computer connected to Internet on the website for all categories of the candidates including Maharashtra State, All India and J & K Migrant candidates.

Last year JBIMS did not participate in CAP round and conducted its own admission process. But for 2016-18 batch, JBIMS has already announced that it would offer admission only through CAP round.

The CAP 2016 registration fee for open Maharashtra State category or Outside Maharashtra State category candidates is Rs 1000/- and for reserved Maharashtra State category is Rs.800/-

Issuing the notification no. CETCELL/MBA-Notification/2016/197 dated June 4, 2016 DTE Maharashtra has confirmed the extension of last date for CAP 2016 at FCs. Now the documents verification, updating and confirmation of Application Form for Admission in person at Facilitation centre for Maharashtra State/All India candidates will be available till June 7, 2016.

Apart from making the notification visible on its website, DTE Maharashtra has also informed the candidates by sending SMS about the opportunity. SMS says ‘Schedule of filling and confirmation of Online Application form at FC is extended till 7th June 2016’.

Now the date for display of the provisional merit list for Maharashtra State/All India/J & K Migrant candidates on website has also been extended from June 4 to June 8, 2016.

Smart move by DTE Maharashtra
DTE Maharashtra has taken a smart move by reopening the online registration for CAP 2016 to explore and increase the possibilities of filling up the maximum seats in MBA/MMS programmes 2016 across Maharashtra B schools.

Interestingly registration has been opened again for all type of candidates. It signifies that seats in all categories are vacant for MBA/MMS/PGDM 2016-18 programmes. There are around 59000 seats for MBA/MMS programmes in 400+ B-schools of Maharashts. Since around same number of candidates appeared in MAHCET 2016, more seats are proposed to be filled up with All India exam scores like CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT. Right from 2013 thousands of seats remain vacant in B schools of Maharashtra. Candidates who appeared in other exams like CMAT/MAT have yet another opportunity to register till June 7, 2016 and can participate in Centralized Admission Process of DTE Maharashtra to get admission in Government, University Managed, University Department or Private B schools in Maharashtra.

Intake increasing every year
In 2012 there were only 34000 seats for various MBA/MMS/PGDM programmes in Maharashtra, this number increased to 45000 in 2014 and now in 2016 it has gone upto 59000 candidates.

Surprisingly the candidates who have been registering and taking MAHCET have also been around the same number and many of them later do not participate in CAP rounds due to which the seats in many colleges remain vacant.

Out of the total registered candidates, a few thousands finalise their admission even before the announcement of CAP round as and when they get their admission offer from various B schools in India.  In all probability they may not turn up for CAP 2016. The chances are that almost all of the candidates who register for CAP 2016 now, may get admission in one or other B school in Maharashtra.

Opportunity for May MAT 2016 takers
The candidates who took May MAT 2016 and improved their scores substantially but missed to register for CAP 2016 earlier have a good opportunity to register by June 7, 2016 for CAP round. It is expected that you could get a good B school in Maharashtra even at a low percentile.

The fee for MBA/MMS/PGDM programme in Maharashtra in a management institute taking part in DTE conducted CAP is decided by ‘Shikshan Shulka Samiti’ in Maharashtra and it can be as low as Rs.2 lakhs to Rs. 3 lakhs across Maharashtra. This fee structure is lower than the cost of pursuing MBA from B schools in other parts of the country where the fee may be as high as Rs.8 to 20 lacs.

Placement in B schools in Maharashtra is also good and students of many institutes like JBIMS, SIMSREE, KJ Somaiya, N L Dalmiya, SIES, IESMCRC, MET, DSIMS, DY Patil, PUMBA, Singhad secure placement packages as high as the students in other top rated B schools.

The reopening of registration in MAHCET CAP 2016 may be a windfall in terms of seeking admission in B schools in Maharashtra. Centralized Admission Process (CAP) is going on at more than 220 Facilitation Centres (FCs) in Maharashtra.
