Bhopal: Launched with an aim of spreading awareness on tiger conservation, Tiger Express chugged into Katni railway station with 50 passengers on board on Monday.
Keeping the promise of tiger trail circuit train with wildlife enthusiasts, Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu had flagged off the train from Delhi's Safdurjang railway station on Sunday on the occasion of World Environment Day.
The semi-luxury train with five day and six night itinerary started its journey from Delhi and will take guests to Bandhavgarh and Kanha National Parks in MP.
In addition the trip will also take tourists to Dhuadhar Waterfall in Bhedaghat, near Jabalpur. Itinerary has been chalked out in a manner that the guests not only enjoy a comfortable travel but also spend considerable time in lap of nature. The trail will include expense of AC accommodation at safaris too.
Talking about the continuity of train, regional manager, IRCTC, Achyut Singh, told, "At present we have decided for only one ride in month of June, as after it the national parks will be closed till October. It will start again after October and if the demand increases it will be run in a gap of every 15 days."
Passengers, on tiger spotting spree, proceeded towards Bhandhavgarh National Park for evening safari in Khitauli Zone. After an overnight stay at Bhandhavgarh, they will be heading towards Kanha National Park to explore the evening safari at Mukki Zone on day 3 and morning safari at the same place on day 4. Tourists will spend the last day at Dhuadhar Waterfall in Bhedaghat.
Tiger Express was launched on the World Environment Day. The railway minister took personal interest in conceptualising this train, which offers the glimpse of heritage of India, including famous national parks.
The trail which also includes, accommodation facilities, starts its package from Rs44,900 per person in AC first class (on triple occupancy per person) to Rs49,500 (single occupancy) for Indian passengers. The charges are Rs38,500 (on triple occupancy per person) to Rs43,500 (on single occupancy) in AC two tier category.
