Srinagar, June 6: Gover-nment today said 140 spots have been restored on River Jehlum to fill breaches and slouches that were caused during devastation floods of 2014 from Kawani to Kadlabal Pampore on the left embankment and from Mirzapora to Sempora on right embankment under SDRF. The restoration includes both permanent and temporary.
In a written reply to a question of MLA Khalil Bandh in Lower House, Minister Incharge PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control said under permanent restoration, 62 spots have been restored from Kawani to Kadlabal Pampore on the left embankment and from Mirzapora to Sempora.
In his supplementary, the MLA Khalid Bandh said though Government has taken up some of streams under permanent and temporary restoration but restoration of Jehlum is still pending at places like Begpora, Goripora and Pampore. Replying to the question, the Minister said immediately, after assessing the damages, the vulnerable spots were restored, both temporarily and permanently by way of earth filing, construction of crate protection bunds etc.
The Minister stated that on Rambiara Nallah, six spots have been restored from Littar to Batpora Naina at an estimated cost of Rs 21.69 lakh under SDRF against which Rs 12.24 lakh have been incurred during last fiscal. He said that under permanent restoration, two spots have been restored at an estimated cost of Rs 14.73 lakh against which Rs 12.76 lakh have been incurred upto end of last fiscal.
The Minister further stated that on Lar Nallah, six damaged spots have been restored from Galbudgh to Wandakpora at an estimated cost of Rs 39.27 lakh under SDRF against which Rs 12.70 lakh have been incurred during last fiscal. He said that under permanent restoration five damaged spots have been restored at an estimated cost of Rs 46.43 lakh in these areas.
