Solan, June 6

With the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways announcing 12 new National Highways (NHs) for the Shimla Parliamentary constituency apart from the 10 announced earlier, the area is all set to have a strong network of roads.

MP Virender Kashyap, while talking to media persons here today, said the union minister’s munificence in extending 12 new NHs yesterday was unprecedented and as many as 874 km of length of NH would be added to the existing length of NHs in the Shimla parliamentary alone. As many as 10 NHs were announced earlier by the minister for the constituency.

Among the new highways announced were the 114 km Sanaura-Rajgarh-Nohradhar-Haripurdhar-Raunhat-Jamali, the 58 km Sataun-Renuka-Dadahu-Jamta-Dosarka, the 35 km Nalagarh-Dhabota-Baruna-Bagheri-Khertiwala-Maura, the 50 km Haripurdhar-Sangrah-Renuka, the 57 km Kandaghat-Sadhupul-Chail-Kufri, the 77 km Haripurdhar-Kupavi-Tarahan-Sarahan-Chopal, the 110 km Sainj-Deha-Chopal- Nerwa-Feduspul, the 80 km Solan-Deothi-Subathu-Kunihar-via-Domehar-Pipalughat-Dhundan-Bhararighat, the 57 km Kafota-Jakhana-Jong-Tunia-Haripur, the 80 km Sanaura-Yaswantnagar-Gaura-Dubloo-Janedghat-Chhalanda-Junga-Mehali, the 60 km Hatkoti-Mandhol-Tahu-Throlla-Kotkhai and the 96 km Rohru-Chirgaun-Larot- Chanshal-Dodra Kwar.

Kashyap said he had raised demand for elevating these state roads as highways to ensure better connectivity to the far-flung areas and all his demands had been conceded by the minister. While giving credit to the visionary ideas of Prime Minister Narendra Modi he said the Prime Minister was laying special emphasis on uplifting the rural communities and extending road connectivity was one such measure which would help in the economic uplift of the villagers. BJP’s district president KL Thakur said two highways which had been sanctioned for his Nalagarh constituency was the long-pending demand which will help in improving the road network in his area.
