Mandi, June 6

Two persons, both residents of Keylong, are feared to have drowned in the Bhaga river near Tandi in the Lahaul and Spiti district. The duo has been missing for the past one week.

The police said Sonam Angroop and Tashi were on a trip to Kheer Ganga via Manikaran. On May 29, while returning to Keylong, they met with an accident near Tandi.

Yesterday, the police found the remains of the vehicle in which Sonam and Tashi were travelling and also recovered a mobile from the accident site. They suspect that both had been swept away by the strong current of the river water. A missing report was already registered at the Keylong police station. Lahaul and Spiti Superintendent of Police Raman Kumar Meena said the family members of the victims lodged a missing complaint on June 3.

The police were trying to locate the bodies of the victims and further investigation in this regard was on. Meanwhile, boats were engaged to locate the bodies but there was no success. “We are now urging the higher authorities to send divers to locate the victims,” the SP added.
