Three nabbed for angadia robbery near Aurangabad, Rs 1.10 crore recovered
Ahmedabad: With two daring armed angdia robberies, one at Bavla on last Friday and the other near Halol which took place on Monday, leaving one dead in four days, Gujarat Police has gone all out to trace such suspects in angadia robberies across the state.
The efforts yielded fruits when city crime branch on Monday morning nabbed three suspects involved in a similar angadia robbery of Rs 2.67 crore near Aurangabad during the early hours of May 3.
Cops have recovered cash of Rs 1.10 crore from the accused.
Joint Commissioner of Police, crime branch JK Bhatt said the three arrested are Hitendra Patel, Jayesh Patel both residents of Sadhav village in Gandhinagar and Sanjay Patel of Vadnagar in Mehsana. Interestingly senior crime branch officials termed the gang as “Patel gang” while addressing the media.
“We are hunting for Upendra Patel while Maharashtra police is conducting a similar operation near Aurangabad to nab remaining seven suspects who allegedly are members of dreaded Anna gang of Maharashtra” Bhatt said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police crime branch Deepan Bhadran said that on a tip off their team intercepted a car near Gota overbridge on SG road and arrested the three accused.
“The gang along with associates on Anna gang of Maharashtra had during the early hours of May 3 had kidnapped three employees of T Umesh angadia firm of Nagpur from near Aurangabad and looted cash of Rs 2.67 crore. The gang had then left the three angadia firm employees at an isolated place on the same highway’ added Bhadran.

Crime branch officials said the four suspects from Gujarat received their share of Rs 1.10 crore and were coming to Ahmedabad to hide the booty when they were caught.
“During interrogation of the accused it has come to light that same gang, which included Arun Patil, who worked as a reporter in a local Nagpur newspaper had made an unsuccessful attempt to rob a angadia vehicle carrying cash from Indore to Mumbai. The gang in the end tipped of Bhivandi police in Maharashtra, who booked the angadia firm employees for carrying unaccounted cash” added a crime branch official.
JCP Bhatt said two of the arrested accused Sanjay and Hitendra have criminal record. “While Sanjay was booked for vehicle theft in Morbi, Hitendra had a case of copyright registered against him at Pethapur police station in Gandhinagar” added Bhatt.
